A Word to Ward 4

Aug 5, 2024

Ward 4, lately there have been a lot of communications about loud long parties disturbing residents with parked vehicles blocking roads, loud music with obscene lyrics and pulsating base shaking homes late into the evening, crowds in neighboring yards and even people in neighboring trees. Some parties are for pay and professionally promoted, which is illegal in residential areas.

Here’s what to do: It is always better to first speak with the party host yourself. If you cannot, then call Brockton Police’s Business line at 508-941-0200 to report.

WICKED IMPT – when you call BPD, get the name of the person(s) you speak with; write it/them down along with the time you called. You don’t have to give your name. Keeping calling until you get relief, noting your call times and operator names. If you see a police cruiser outside the party house, note the time and observe how they behave: did the officer get out of the cruiser? Was the volume turned down and then up as the cruiser departed?

Contact your Ward Councilor and Councilors At Large if you do not get relief within a few hours. Contact information is on the city website under “City Council.”

Brockton Police are often busy and unfortunately understaffed on weekends, but that doesn’t mean you should suffer through another resident’s disrespectful actions.
